Are you an experienced SEN Teacher?

Do you have experience working with Autism and complex learning difficulties?

Maybe you’re a mainstream teacher or newly qualified seeking a transition into a specialist setting?

 

I am working with the most delightful SEN school in the heart of Redbridge who are seeking a passionate and ambitious Complex Needs Teacher to join them in the new academic year - and ECT's are welcome!

This school caters for students between 3-11 with needs such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Multi-Sensory Impairments, Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties, Challenging Behaviour and associated complex learning needs.

Having visited this school, I can vouch for how wonderful the team are. You will be fully supported by a hugely experienced SLT, and surrounded by a team of on-site Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Music and Dance Therapists and so much more. The students love their time at school, and it was a pleasure to witness the joy and pride felt by the teachers and pupils in class.

Requirements of a Complex Needs Teacher

  • Complex Needs Teacher must hold QTS or equivalent

  • Must be bubbly, passionate, and get stuck in!

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly autism and/or learning difficulties

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including the SEND Code of Practice

  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies for students with diverse needs and abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning

Responsibilities of a Complex Needs Teacher

  • The Complex Needs Teacher must be able to develop individualized education plans for each student based on their unique needs and abilities

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the specific needs of each student

  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity

  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development

  • Complex Needs Teachers must attend and participate in relevant meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions
