I am working with an incredible SEN school in the Royal Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, who are looking to hire a SEN Teacher to join their wonderful team on a permanent basis. This is for the September start.

What to Expect as a Secondary SEN Teacher:

  • The opportunity to work in a specialist SEN school where creativity is valued
  • Ongoing professional development and training available
  • Generous PPA time!
  • Teaching small classes (up to 7 children per class) and working closely with other teachers, Teaching Assistants, and multi-disciplinary team 
  • Teaching children ages 11 to 16 with Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN) and associated learning difficulties, including Autism

Requirements of a Secondary SEN Teacher:

  • Must have a QTS or QTLS
  • A dedicated and dynamic personality.
  • The ability to teach GCSE, Entry Level, and Functional Skills
  • To work with SEN staff and support staff (including prior discussion and joint planning) in order to benefit from their specialist knowledge and to maximise their effectiveness within lessons
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, although we welcome applications from qualified teachers currently working in mainstream schools, looking to work in the SEN field
  • To contribute towards the implementation of EHCPs as detailed in the current Code of Practice particularly the planning and recording of appropriate actions and outcomes related to set targets
  • Previous experience teaching Secondary would be highly valued for this role 
  • The school would be happy to consider newly qualified teachers
