I am working with an SEND School in the London Borough of Greenwich hat caters for students up to the age of 19 and they are actively looking for Teaching Assistants, this school specialises in working with children & young people with SEMH as well as ASD, ADHD and processing difficulties.

 

Overview of the role:

  • SEMH Teaching Assistant
  • Contract 
  • Location: London Borough of Greenwich
  • SEND School with a supportive team including therapists and educational psychologists
  • The ability to engage children with SEND is essential 

 

Working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  • Providing physical and emotional support within the classroom
  • Fantastic communication skills and to be approachable
  • Ability to be empathetic and understanding
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners within the classroom 
  • Support learners to manage their behaviour consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs in order to meet or exceed learning expectations
  • Support the teacher with lesson plans and keeping the classroom engaged in the lesson
  • Adhere and be flexible to meet each child's individual needs
  • Support or deliver learning activities
  • Deliver learning interventions as required e.g. literacy, circle of friends, anger management and circle time
