Therapeutic Education Mentor – Permanent Contract - East London

Are you able to draw on a wide range of social care and teaching strategies to implement plans to support a young person in need?

Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a specialist service in East London who educate some of the most vulnerable young people in society.

About the service

The service caters to young people who have severe and complex social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and some with a dual diagnosis of autism (ASD) learning difficulties/ADHD/Tourette’s (motor Tics) and Sensory Processing Difficulties together with lack of awareness of 'stranger danger'. The service is made up of social workers, teachers, therapists and therapeutic learning mentors. Young people educated by the service are educated in the hub based in East London or on outreach near their home in community settings. Each student will have an education plan tailored to their specific needs.

About the Therapeutic Education Mentor role

As a Therapeutic Education Mentor you will be matched with a specific student and be responsible for their best possible outcomes. You will help to deliver classroom lesson, and related activities. You will act as a learning mentor and appropriate adult for the young person offering them emotional support and educational guidance. You will help plan and prepare for your young person to do project work and assist them to successfully complete their chosen projects
