Therapeutic Support Assistant – Hounslow – Immediate start

£110-120 per day, PAYE Only (Dependent on experience and amount of travel required)

I am actively seeking an engaging and driven Therapeutic Support Assistant to work in a PRU setting that provides education to children who are unable to be educated in a mainstream school due to behaviour difficulties. I am looking to speak to professional and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting children in an alternate provision.

The Setting

This setting provides support to complex and vulnerable children and young people who are unable to access education in mainstream schools or alternative provisions. Pupils display high risk behaviours typically associated with SEMH, autism and associated conditions and are likely to have traumatic backgrounds. This provision needs staff to provide small group and 1:1 personalised therapeutic education whilst building positive social, educational and emotional development for each pupil.

Requirements – Therapeutic Support Assistant

  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH, behavioural issues, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication
  • Deeper understanding of nurture principles and trauma informed teaching
  • Ability to model and sensitively support with healthy lifestyle choices related to emotional and sensory needs
  • Mentoring/teaching background with an understanding of Therapeutic Education
  • Be able to build strong and trusting relationships whilst maintaining strong boundaries
  • Happy to travel to different sites on a weekly basis (Travel Expenses covered)

What to expect as a Therapeutic Support Assistant

  • Working with students from Key stage 2 to Key stage 5
  • The ideal candidate will be required to provide additional support to other students if their students are absent on that day
  • Excellent experience and training for aspiring Teachers, Pastoral workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Counsellors, and Social Workers
