SEMH specialist school

An English Teacher is required for a specialist SEMH school located in Croydon. The school primarily caters to students who are unable to attend mainstream education. Our education providers support children and young people who, for various reasons, cannot access any other formal educational settings. These students are the most vulnerable, at risk, and hard to reach in our community. In order to facilitate their academic development, we must meet their SEMH needs first. Therefore, it is essential to understand their SEMH needs in these roles, and we are looking for individuals who can make a positive impact.

The English Teacher role:

  • Our teachers are experienced in teaching emotional regulation and using positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies. This approach ensures that students feel secure and supported in their learning environment.
  • Our teachers are positive role models who support communication with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach. This creates a safe and encouraging space for students to learn and grow.
  • Our teachers possess experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, and social communication teaching background. This enables them to understand and cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Our teachers are skilled at building strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students. They take the time to get to know each student, understand their challenges and provide personalized support.
  • Our teachers have experience working with disengaged teenagers, which is essential. They know how to motivate and engage students who might have lost interest in their studies
